Evelynn “Eve” Hotz, 80, graduated into heaven on July 2, 2020. Eve was born in Lakeland, Florida on March 1, 1940, daughter of the late Francis Wagner and the late Isabelle Wagner. She is survived by her husband Frank E. Hotz, of Tucson, Arizona and her sister Karen A. Wagner of Lynchburg, Virginia.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College Lakeland, Florida and a master’s degree from University of Virginia.
Evelynn started her teaching career in Lakeland, Florida before moving to Lynchburg where she taught English at E.C. Glass. Later she transferred to Heritage High School and taught English and Humanities and directed theatre productions until 1990.
For years Eve and Frank enjoyed traveling the western United States, with lengthy stays in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, finally settling in Tucson, Arizona, where she worked in marketing research.
Eve returned to Lynchburg in 2014 to help provide care for her mom.
Eve loved animals especially her cats Schnoopie and Suzee, who went with them in their travel trailer. Also, she enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and deer.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Karen Wagner, E.S. “Pete” Peters, Barbara Edgley, Ann Johnson, and her family in various states and friends in Tucson.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. John MacNeill, Stroubants Cardiovascular Center, Centra Hospice, Dr. Charles Latham and the staff of New London Family Practice, and Campbell County Rescue Squad.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eve’s name may be sent to the donor’s choice of animal charities.
Because of Covid-19 Eve was unable to donate her body to science. No services are planned.
