Laurence Barrett Wells, who lived at Westminster-Canterbury, died Sunday, February 24, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Morrissett Wells.
Larry was born March 16, 1927. His parents were Hallie Apperson Barrett Wells and Herman Dulany Wells. His brother, John Stewart Wells preceded him in death. His aunt, Miss Laurie Barrett, raised him after his mother\"™s death.
In addition to his wife, Larry also leaves behind his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nollner and Smokie Watts; a niece, Langhorne Kent LeBoutillier (Phil) and two nephews, Ashby (Merrill) and Landon (Laura) Watts and their families.
Larry was educated in Lynchburg public schools and graduated from E. C. Glass High School. Later he attended Phillips Business College. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946-1949.
Larry\"™s first job was with First National Bank in Lynchburg. He later worked for Gould National Battery as Plant Manager. He retired from Montaque-Betts as Personnel Director.
Larry was a member of St. John\"™s Episcopal Church. He was a former member of the Lynchburg Lions Club and a president of Central Virginia Industries.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 28 at 11:30 A.M. at the Presbyterian Cemetery on Grace Street in Lynchburg. It will be conducted by Reverend William J. Watson III rector of St. John\"™s Episcopal Church.
