Thomas Cornel Roberts, A.K.A. Tommy, Cornel, Cornball, Popcorn, etc. passed away Tuesday August 10, 2021 at age 56. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, his one son and three daughters, eight grandchildren, and many extended family members, including a nephew who he thought of as a brother.

Tommy was well known throughout the Roanoke area for his craftsmanship as a tile setter, which allowed him to express his artistic abilities. He had an incredible work ethic that he also instilled in his children and he was proud to have been able to pass on the knowledge of his trade to many.

He was a true family man who was fiercely proud of all of his children and grandchildren. As a Christian man, Tommy truly enjoyed being a member of Journey Church as well as being a part of Celebrate Recovery. He was a faithful and loving husband who was never hesitant about voicing his devotion to his wife.

Tommy was a fantastic home chef who wanted to spread his love through food and loved beauty in many forms including music, theater, and artwork preferring life experiences to material possessions. He was an animal and nature lover who enjoyed seeing the world through travel. Tommy was quick to lend a hand and never expected anything in return, nor did he wish to be in the spotlight.

Liked by all, selfless, and always concerned about the well being of others before himself, Tommy will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, Tommy would have appreciated donations made to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in his memory.
