This gentle man will be sorely missed! Robert was quick not just with a smile but with a good deed. When my elderly mother needed her eyeglasses adjusted, he actually went over to Westminster Canterbury to see her and take care of getting her glasses straight...meanwhile totally charming her with his easy bedside manner, No small task with Mother! My condolences to his family and many friends.

Robert will greatly be missed by all that knew him, he was a wonderful friend to all. He was always so kind and willing to spend time talking to us and just catching up when we'd meet at our annual events. Every year when I would go to Richmond for our Optician's Association of Virginia Conference, he had such a positive outlook in life. His passion and zeal was so infectious, we all wanted to be like him. He is a rare gem, his kindness and love of people is evident in the many ways he expressed his passion and generous heart. With love I send my most sincere condolences to you, Nicole, and your family.

To put it simply, Robert was my dear friend and colleague. He was and his memory will continue to be a touchstone for the practice of Opticianry in Virginia and beyond. He gave us calm counsel and guided us though good times and challenges. We had the honor of serving on the VA State Board for Hearing Aid Specialists and Opticians together and he spearheaded significant improvements to our professional education. His good counsel and his steady and humorous voice will live in my memory. Thank you Nicole for sharing Robert with us all. Rest well my friend, you have earned it.

Robert was an incredible source of information and inspiration to myself as well as many other people. We are all better people for having known him, and the impressions he made of friends will last for many years to come. Robert was always happy to give advice to anyone who needed it. He would always tell you exactly how he felt about someone or something with an honesty that is rare to find. Robert would always make those around him laugh with his twisted since of humor, and really knew how to make people feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations. I will always remember the things I learned from Robert, and my heart goes out to all of his friends and family.

Robert was truly an amazing individual. His positive mindset, kindness and unwavering dedication was admired by so many of us within the opticianry profession. I first got to know Robert through the Opticians Association of VA and also Reynolds Community College Opticianry program advisory board. He approached me to be a member of the OAV board over 15 years ago and I remember his passion for the profession was so contagious, it made me want to be a part of it. I often reached out to Robert for guidance and advice throughout the years and greatly appreciated his ability to help me look past the distractions and focus on what was important. Being greeted at meetings with Robert's warm smile, a chuckle and hug will be something I will truly miss. My most sincere condolences to Nicole and the family. Our hearts are with you all as we remember such an extraordinary man.
