Robert E Flippin, 56 of Lynchburg went home to be with the lord on Monday October 19, 2020 surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his father George E Flippin III. He is survived by his wife Nicole W. Flippin, mother Ruth C. Flippin and sister Tammy Flippin-Ortiz (Osvaldo).

He was a licensed Optician for 31 years; he was passionate about advocacy for opticians and was a guiding force for so many in his profession. He was past president of the National Commission of State Optician Regulatory Board, Chairman of the state board for Hearing Aid Specialists and Opticians, Chairman of the J. Sargent Reynolds Community College Opticianry Advisory Board. He was named optician of the year 2004. He also received a lifetime achievement award from the Optician Association of VA.

The family would like to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice as well as our many neighbors, family and friends for their excellent care, support and kindness during his illness.
