Robert Edward Coffin, 89, of Lynchburg departed this world on Friday, May 7, 2021.

He was born on March 22, 1932 in Slatington, Pa. He was the son of the late Woodrow Coffin and the late Ruth Snyder Coffin.

Robert graduated from Slatington High School. He was in a U.S. Naval Reserve unit and was activated upon graduation and served at Great Lakes Naval Air Station and Willow Grove Naval Air Station. After his service he earned a bachelor’s degree from Millersville State (Pa.) and a M.A. from Montclair State Teachers College (N.J.).

His life journey took him from Slatington, Pa. to Rutherford N.J. to Wayne N.J. to Howardsville, Va. to Pedlar Mills, Va. to Virginia Beach, Va. and finally to Lynchburg, Va.

He is survived by two daughters, Corinne Johnson of Amherst and Melisa Coffin of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; sister, Nancy Follweiler of Bethlehem, Pa.; and grandchildren, Ashley Johnson and Michael Johnson.
