Patricia Ann Barker, 61, of Roanoke Virginia passed away Tuesday June 29, 2021, at home. Born December 9, 1959, she was the daughter of Shirley Barker of Roanoke and the late Billy R. Barker. She was a 1978 graduate of Welch High School in Welch WV and a 1982 graduate of Concord University in Athens, WV. Patricia has been a lifelong resident of Welch WV and had only recently moved to the Roanoke area to be cared for by her sister after suffering from a stroke.

Patricia had devoted her life to God and her family. While living in Welch she served as pastor for several of the small community churches, a substitute teacher with the McDowell County school System, and previously had her own bookkeeping business, Data Development, Inc. She delighted in her work with the churches weather it was working with a mission, the community or with the youth in the area and tried to make a difference in their lives.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her mother, Shirley J. Barker; her sister and caregiver, Melissa A. Neel, and husband Everette; her brother, Timothy “Tim” Barker of Beckley, WV; her nephew, Derrick A. Stinson, and companion Rebecca Taylor all of the home (Roanoke VA). Her nieces, Sherrie Marie Belt, and husband Dustin of Welch WV; Brandy Barker and companion Justin Smith of Davy WV; Heather Marie Burks of Lancaster, SC. Her loving and special uncles William R. Southard and wife Anita of Stafford VA and C.I. “Bud” Southard and wife Carolyn of Carson City, NV along with several great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Memorial Services will be held at the First Welch United Methodist Church on Saturday July 10, 2021, at 1 pm with Pastor Olen Winfree delivering the eulogy. To send condolences online please visit tharpufuneralhome.com. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Roanoke, VA is assisting the family.
