Deane Richards

She was a wanderer, a traveler, a woman, an individual. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, an aunt, a friend to some and a mystery to others. She was a creative spirit, restless and, as of August 18, 2018, no longer of this world.

Nancy Bernadine Kivlighan Richards, known as “Deane” for much of her life, was born on October 7, 1953. She was raised by parents Michael E. Kivlighan and Kathryn J. Lineweaver Kivlighan.

Deane is survived by her sister, Kathryn K. Mitchell (Ken), nieces, great nieces and nephew, many cousins, and extended family and friends in Staunton, Richmond, surrounding central and southwest VA areas, and in the state of Connecticut.

A private memorial service will be held at the Old City Cemetery chapel and scatter garden in Lynchburg, Va, on Oct.7, 2018, at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Roanoke Rescue Mission at P.O. Box 11525, Roanoke, VA 24022.
