Michael “Mike” Gray, age 67, of Roanoke, VA, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, with his children by his side. Mike is survived by his sister Lola Jean Pierson (Dave) of Minnesota, his children, Heather Gray of Myrtle Beach and Jennifer Little (James) of Roanoke, along with grandsons Jackson and Joshua Little of Roanoke.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Lola Gray and wife Donna Gray.  Mike grew up in Greensboro, NC, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Elon College.  He then moved to Roanoke, and it was there that he met the greatest love of his life, Donna.  He had a successful career as a salesman and retired in 2015.  It was then that he enjoyed being an adoring grandpa in his final years.  Mike was a loyal husband, friend, and family man.  His family was everything to him, and his in laws thought of him as a true brother, not brother in law.

His passions included playing with his three dogs (Sugar, Spice, Peppin), gardening, all things UNC Tarheel sports, going to the beach, playing and watching baseball, listening to classic rock and “oldies”, and hosting family cookouts. Mike was an avid chef in his kitchen and spent years trying to recreate the dishes his mother made while growing up but never wrote down.  His family appreciated his dedication as his food always tasted amazing.  As per his wishes, there will be no services because Mike did not like to be the center of attention.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate in his name to Angels of Assisi.

Tharp Funeral Home in Roanoke is assisting the family.  To send condolences, please visit tharpfuneralhome.com.
