We are Trey Cooper's grandparents and that how we met Melissa, love at first sight, she was a wonderful Christian, wonderful mother, wife and loved her children so much along with her husband and family. She was beautiful on the outside and inside. I will miss her sweet heart and caring, always taking time to talk to us when ever you would see her at the grocery store, McDonalds and other places, and she always took time to pray for us with our health issues. She was a true Christian and it showed every day on how she loved to take time for us. She will be missed so much and my heart hurts for her family, but the Lord will take care of all their needs and we will all see her again.

We are heart broken with you over the loss of Melisa. "He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."

My deepest sympathy to Melissa’s family. Please know that I have known her since 1964, when I began my 44-year career with her father’s company, Dargan Construction Company in Myrtle Beach, SC. As written in all the tributes that are posted in this section of her obituary, she was one of the nicest people I have ever known. I was around her many times during the years, and never heard her speak negatively about anyone or anything. She spoke so softly and always asked how I was getting along before I could ask her the same. I remember when she graduated from Columbia College and then her first job as a Teacher at the Christian Academy in Myrtle Beach, SC. I remember her dad telling me that she was so very proud of the posters she had put on the walls of her classroom that she invited him to come and see, which he and her mother did. She was so excited about teaching and I am sure many of the children felt so fortunate to have such as sweet, pretty, and dedicated teacher. I remember other parts of her life as well, her wedding to Brian, and many of the events I attended along with her and the members of the Dargan family. May Melissa Rest In Peace, after a life here on earth that was WELL LIVED.

Melissa was a childhood friend and neighbor of mine. I spent many weekend nights spending the night with her and being the only two girls (our age) in our neighborhood, we ran hard keeping up with all the boys. I have many fond memories of those days as if they were yesterday. Our parents were close friends both professionally and socially and Melissas mother Caroline and my mother were dear friends. Over our adult years we lost contact with each other but the one thing I will always remember is Melissa’s heart and spirit. She had a heart of grace and possessed and a spirit of love and kindness. She was a natural beauty both inside and out. As I read the remembrance of Melissa it was as if nothing ever changed in the Melissa I knew. She was genuine and real to her core. To the Hufhand family from the Riddle family, you will and have been in our prayers. May the choir of angels from the heavenly balcony greet Melissa as she jumps into the loving arms of Jesus. You are home sweet girl!
