Marguerite “Maggie” Wells, 85, of Lynchburg, peacefully gained her wings on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at her home with her family and best friend “Snuggles” by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jim “Bun” Wells.

Maggie was born November 1935 in Englewood, NJ, the daughter of the late Ernest J. Roth and Elizabeth A. Roth. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Fleeman of Ridgely, WV and son Jamie Wells and his wife Sandy of Moseley, VA; grandchildren, Beth Fleeman, Tyler and Austin Wells; great grandchildren Kayleigh, Jacob and Lucian; along with two nephews, several cousins and her beloved dog Snuggles.

Maggie was a devoted Christian and long-time member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she always relished her time with her Circle Four friends. In addition to her dedication to Christ, Maggie was an extraordinarily loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a dedicated and loyal friend to her neighbors and family of Lynchburg.

A visitation is planned for Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Tharp Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will then be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church followed by committal at 3:00 p.m. at Virginia Memorial Park. Please note that the church service will also be live streamed on YouTube for those unable to attend: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3rJa8HAT-M).

Flowers are welcome, but donations may also be made to Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Wounded Warrior Project, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg, where Maggie volunteered for many years.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
