On February 26, 2022, Margreeta (Rita) Hill Kidd, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother of 2 and true friend to many, passed away at age 72.

Margreeta (Rita) Hill Kidd born, May 22, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia. Rita was the first born of (father) George H. Sr. (preceded in death) and (mother) Margaret (Reid) Hill.  Rita graduated from Dunbar High School in the Class of 1967. Rita received her Certificate in Human Services from Central Virginia Community College in Lynchburg; VA. Rita was employed at General Electric Company. Rita married on March 31, 1973, for 49 years, to Rubin C. Kidd, Sr. who precedes her in death. Together they reared their daughter, Chonna N., and son, Rubin C. Jr.  Rita continued sharing her skills as an employee with the Department of Social Services, Lyn-Cag and Lynchburg Special Olympics Coordinator. She was a member and Advocate of The Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy (VOPA) and many times advocated for parents and students throughout the community. In addition to her accomplishments Rita continued to be a long-time devoted member of New Dearington Baptist Church. As a Christian, Rita saw the need to extend her talents and friendship to the Heart- to- Heart Church (Pastor Cynthia Okemmuo). She exercised the greatest Principal of love in her family and through singing. Rita performed in plays in the Lynchburg City Theatres and was a member and singing artist with the JLP Productions (Music Troupe).

A Household Name, “Do you know “Rita Kidd?” (As many of her friends called her) they answered, YEEESSSS… and the story would begin…! Rita had a huge smile like our dad (George Sr.) combined with our mom’s (Margaret) a big heart, strong will, determination, with a heaping spoon of matter-of-factness from our Aunt Mattie (preceded in death), plus her beautifully creative side to boot (speaking of Boots, just like her friends she had a lot of those too!). With her BIG personality (in a short stature) these attributes opened many doors which connected with a plethora of people who became lifelong friends. Rita, daughter, sister, wife, mother of 2 and true friend loved the LORD as if HE were fresh flowers in bloom.

Rita is also survived by her (brother) George H. Hill, Jr (Nelia)-5 of Lynchburg, VA., (brother) Russell J. Hill (Doris)-2, Lynchburg , VA, (sister) Linda H. Allsberry -1 (Ray preceded in death), Durham, NC, (sister) Minnie L. H Thomas-5 (Temple Hills, MD), (brother) Oscar L. Hill-3 (Pat) (Raeford , NC), and (sister) Mary H. Thomas -3 (Clifton Thomas preceded in death) (Raleigh, NC),  sister in law, Elva L. Kidd Tranks (Lynchburg, VA), preceded in death by two brother in law’s Hunter F. Kidd and William F. Kidd, Jr. For Rita family meant everything to her which she celebrated many cousins, an abundance of nieces, nephews (2 preceded in death). great nephews and nieces along with a host of devoted and life-long friends. Rita will join a host of relatives who have preceded her in death and are welcoming her with open arms to her NEW HOME/NEW LIFE!

Rita: The circle has not been broken, because with you a new circle begins. Rita left us with the word of GOD to continue to live by:  This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you… 1 John 15:12.  Therefore, be ye also ready: for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:44 (NKJV).

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held at Dearington Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022.

From the Family of Margreeta (Rita) Kidd Appreciations and Heartfelt thank you.
