Lloyd Robert Jasperse was born November 6, 1934 in Sheboygan, WI. He died November 25, 2018 in Lynchburg, VA.  He married Nellimae (Nella) Daane in Oostburg, WI on June 26, 1958, a marriage that thrived for more than 60 years until his death.  He was the father of three children, Jeffrey (Lucia) Jasperse of Lynchburg, VA, Steven (Daphne) Jasperse, and Jill (Richard) Poel of Aurora, IL.  He also had nine grandchildren, Nathan (Essence) Jasperse, Samara (Benjamin) Stovall, Hannah Jasperse, Jeremy Jasperse, Brent Jasperse, Kyle Jasperse, Sarah (Andrew) Muzik, Rachel Poel, and Anna Poel and one great granddaughter, Rebecca Muzik.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Cornelia Jasperse, a brother Bobby, and his son Steven.

Lloyd served three years of a tool and dye apprenticeship after high school and then entered college to pursue a mechanical engineering degree. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1960 and worked for General Electric (various locations), Honeywell (Minneapolis and Colorado Springs), and NEC (Roseville, CA) during his career.  He specialized in the construction and operation of buildings for the manufacture of semiconductors, and retired from NEC in 1998.  He was active as a volunteer in many activities after his retirement, supervising the construction of Granite Springs Church in Lincoln, CA and of a new Family Life Center addition to First Presbyterian Church in Roseville, CA, which included a gym and multiple classrooms.  He also handmade cabinets for the classrooms in this addition.  He went on to use his construction skills building homes with Habitat for Humanity and World Renew.

Lloyd loved his family and loved being outdoors with his family. He appreciated classical music and had a rich baritone voice.  He often sang solos in church or at weddings in his earlier years, and sang with his wife, Nella, in various church choirs and community chorales.  He enjoyed reading and his favorites included the classics, theology, Tony Hillerman, and books on American history.  He was a tennis player and an avid tennis fan.  He developed wonderful skills as a fine woodworker, and the homes of his family members are filled with beautifully crafted furniture that he made.  His family remembers his sense of humor, his natural intelligence, his logical mind, and his intentionality about the serious things in life.  Above all, his family remembers his and Nella’s commitment to Christ and their faithful prayer support for their children and grandchildren.  Although very accomplished in many ways, their foremost priority was serving Christ and raising their children to love and follow Christ.  Lloyd served on the board of Calvin Christian School in Edina, MN and served as an elder in churches in Minneapolis, Colorado Springs, Sacramento, and Roseville.

Lloyd was generous with his time and resources throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, his family would be honored if donations were made to one of his favorite charities, World Renew or the Luke Society.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel, Lynchburg.
