A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

Lezena B. Morris, our beloved daughter, niece, and cousin, slipped quietly into the realm of immortality at the home of her parents on March 7, 2022. Her passage was as her living, without complaint, accepting and believing that God’s almighty power would not fail. Although she faced challenges with her health during the past year, her faith never wavered as she trusted God and His will for her life.
Zena, as she was affectionally known, was born on February 28, 1960 in Lynchburg, VA to Levi and Phyllis Morris. She attended Amelon Elementary School in Madison Heights, VA and Villa Maria Elementary School in Lynchburg, VA. She graduated from Holy Cross High School in Lynchburg, VA. She received her B.S. Degree from Sweet Briar College, Amherst, VA and her Master’s Degree from University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
After graduation, Zena moved to Reisterstown, MD where she served as Deputy Director, Office of Enterprise Technology for the Department of Health in Baltimore, MD.
Zena loved the Lord and welcomed every opportunity to serve Him. She faithfully served on the Board of Directors for Dr. Cindy Trimm Ministries International. She managed the board meeting agenda, accurately recorded decisions made, was an advisor to the board and governance coach and brought important correspondence before the board. She handled responsibilities with, diligence, excellence and prayer.
Distinguished by her smile and warm personality, Zena never met a stranger. Her energy and zest for life was contagious. She was a well versed woman, who had a beautiful smile and warm personality. She loved international traveling and listening to music. She always remembered her immediate family’s birthdays and was known for sending out well chosen, thoughtful cards for all occasions.
Enduring a very serious illness, Zena demonstrated remarkable strength, faith and courage. She never gave away to self pity and sorrow. She looked forward to a better tomorrow. She stood undaunted in what may have come her way, secure in the knowledge that God had her under the wings of His protection. He has been her rock and resting place. He has now smiled from His Golden Throne and welcomed her home.
Zena is survived by her parents, Levi and Phyllis Morris, four aunts, two uncles, and numerous cousins. To cherish Zena’s memory, along with her family, are many friends, including her close friends, Mrs. Angela Thomas (North Carolina), Dr. Renee Hillard(Maryland) and Mrs. Shawnya Walker(Lynchburg, VA)
Sleep on dear Zena and get your rest,
