Laurence “Larry” Joseph Fournier, 67, of Lynchburg died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at U.V.A. Hospital in Charlottesville.

Larry was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 24, 1951, a son of Louis Fournier and his late wife, Emily Kasick Fournier. Larry worked at many area establishments and was (among other things) a great bartender, in the old-school sense of someone who viewed his job as extending hospitality, not just pouring drinks. He will be greatly missed.

Larry is survived by his father Louis Fournier, sister, Elise Becker and husband Robert of Mooresville, NC, and nephew Michael and his wife Jennifer and two grandnephews and a grandniece, also of Mooresville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and also from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A Funeral Mass for Larry will be held at 12 noon, Saturday March 2, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush as celebrant, to be followed by a reception at the church commons.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
