On February 9, 2021 Kenneth Lee Burdette, Sr. was called home to rest. He passed away peacefully at The Hospice House located in Bedford, Virginia. He was born March 9, 1954 to the late Reggie and Ila Burdette. On May 20, 1973 at the age of 19 he married Janice Lee Rhodes and had four children.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tiffany Burdette, his brothers, Junior Burdette, Charlie Burdette, Russell Burdette, Eugene Burdette and sister, Bernice Burger.
Kenneth loved to laugh, and have fun surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing, and when he was younger, he loved to race cars. He worked hard during his life. He worked for many years at Evington Wood Yard and then went on to tractor trailer driving for Nash Trucking. He also worked in maintenance at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton Virginia and finally retired.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories son, Kenneth Lee Burdette Jr. of Huddleston, VA; two daughters, Karen Johnson (Barry) Bedford, VA and Anitra Young (Roosevelt) of Newport News, VA; four grandchildren, Alexia, Taylor, Christian, Emmanuel and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Amir; one sister, Evelyn Norman and one brother, Dennis Wayne Burdette and nieces, nephews, family and friends. His smile and laughter will be greatly missed.
On February 9, 2021 Kenneth Lee Burdette, Sr. was called home to rest. Memorial Service will be rendered February 14, 2021 at the Carder Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, Virginia. Visitation at 3:00 p.m. and Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. Eulogist Reverend Anthony Bond, and Officiant Pastor Brad Burdette.
