James “Dude” Tilton Johnson of Lynchburg peacefully entered into eternal rest Monday, June 17, 2019.
He was born November 21, 1948 in Charlottesville, Va. to the late LeeRussell Johnson and James Tilton Canody. James was baptized at an early age and joined St. James Baptist Church. He loved The Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Dorothy Johnson; children, Shelley (Mike) Harmon of Lynchburg, Kazan Johnson Sr. of Lynchburg, Sterling (Tiffany) Johnson of Richmond, Renee Vaughan of Arrington, Kelley Helm of Lynchburg; sisters, Frances Johnson of Lynchburg, Kathleen Reid of Lynchburg, Vanessa Rose of Madison Heights, Carlyle (Mike) Demore of Detroit, IL, Vickie (Don) Toliver of Madison Heights; brothers, Freddie Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Calvin (Buck) Johnson of Piney River; thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lynette (Gary) Holifield of Seattle, WA; devoted friend, Cheryl Morris, and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins: Ann, Lize, Arlene, and others.
A special thanks to nurse Mrs. Brigette Alexander and Stanley Hunt.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights at 2:00 p.m.
