Gladene Sandidge Davis departed her life peacefully in her home on November 17, 2020, her 79th birthday. Gladene was born to Moses and Evelyn Sandidge in Amherst County where she grew up. She graduated from Central High School, and later moved to Lynchburg, where she worked at General Electric for several years. Gladene studied and became a licensed beautician and had an in-home beauty shop. She was also a well-known professional seamstress and worked many years at S&K Menswear. After retiring she continued the professions that she loved so much from her home up until she became ill in 2018. Gladene always exemplified a Godly, kind, humble, sweet and graceful spirit. Gladene enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Altha Grove Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board for over 40 years and was President for several of those years. Gladene also was head of the Children’s Choir ministry for about 10 years and was instrumental in the creation of the Fellowship Choir.
She was preceded in death by her father Moses Sandidge. She is survived by her mother Evelyn Massie Sandidge, her devoted husband of 56 years Albert Davis, her children Michael Davis (Jeanette), Vanessa D. White, Wanda D. Goldman (Brian); grandchildren Zachary Pennix, Zebulon Goldman, and Zena Goldman; step-grandchild Pierre Pennix; step-great grandchildren Damari Pennix and Akirra Stockwell; her siblings Doris Smith (Howard), Leon Sandidge (Joan), Wayne Sandidge (Ruth), Gail Musser, and Gordon Sandidge (Yvonne), and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg VA. Interment will follow the service at the Altha Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday November 21, 2020 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, VA.
