F. Hill Jones, Jr. 74 of Lynchburg died Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was the husband of Amy Chandre Jones for 24 years. Born in Lynchburg on April 22, 1947, Hill was the son of the late Frank Hill Jones, Sr. and the late Edith Cole Jones.

In addition to his wife, Hill is survived by a son, Robert Cole Jones and his wife, Ann S. Jones of Fairfax, VA, grandson, Tyler Christopher Jones, granddaughter Erin Grace Jones, stepdaughter Leslie Dudley Walden and her husband, G. Kevin Walden of Lynchburg, step granddaughter, Wren A. Walden, stepson Jeffrey Melvin Dudley and his wife, Chelsie G. Dudley, of Wendell, NC, step granddaughter, Caila Jenson Dudley, and step grandson, Jaden Cole Dudley.

Hill served in the U. S. Navy Reserve from 1967 – 1973. Hill graduated from CVCC in 1974 and spent his career employed in the civil engineering technical field with Wiley & Wilson, Inc, and Hurt & Proffitt, Inc. His interests outside of work were family, boating, motorcycles, and automobiles.

The family wants to thank the nurses at Pearson Cancer Center and especially Dr. J. MacNeill, and Gentle Shepherd Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August, 4, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC, 27317, Shriners’ Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 9217, Richmond, VA 23227, or  Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 666-8516.
