Frances Baker Wilmer, died on February 26, 2019. She was the wife of Henry Max Wilmer.

She was 88 years old and born on May 6, 1930. Chinkey was a daughter of “Bill” and Juanita Baker. She had a brother Leroy Baker and a sister Angie Wood that proceeded her in death.

Chinkey graduated from E.C. Glass High School. She met Max when her brother, Leroy, came home from the Army with a Marine friend. They were married on August 28th, 1953. Chinkey was a loving stay at home Mom raising her sons while Dad worked and they lived in the Perrymont area of Lynchburg. After her kids started playing Sports, she took a part time job with Central Fidelity Bank. As the boys entered Middle School and High School, she took a full time job with Central Fidelity Bank and was one of the bank’s floor planners. She was an active member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees. She lived in Fairfield’s neighborhood until a few years ago when they moved to The Summit. Chinkey retired in the early 1990’s.

In addition to her husband, Chinkey is survived by her sons and their families – Brad Wilmer & his wife Gwen; David Wilmer & his wife Tara. Brad & Gwen’s kids and their spouses are Mary & Michael Paul Alley, Ethan Wilmer, & Taylor Wilmer. David & Tara kids and spouses are Travis & Lindsay Wilmer and Kyle & Alisa Wilmer. Chinkey’s great grandchildren are Logan Wilmer, Lilah Perry, Jaxon Wilmer, & Kaylee Wilmer.

The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, today, Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Fort Hill United Methodist Church located at 106 Oakridge Blvd. Lynchburg, Virginia 24502 with the Rev. Ronald Litten and the Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

 Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

 Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
