Darlene F. Lott, 69, of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Chesapeake, VA, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

She was born Friday, October 29, 1948 in New Castle, PA to Wilson Morton “Fuzzy” Myers and Bernice Althea (Smith) Myers. Darlene was a 1966 graduate of Neshannock High School. After graduation, she moved to the Washington D.C. area and worked for the F.B.I.  It was while working there that she met James Arthur Lott. They married May 18, 1968. Several years later they relocated to Chesapeake, VA. Darlene worked in orthodontics and dentistry for 25 years. She also worked at the Union Mission women’s shelter. Darlene was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church and a former member of Temple Baptist Church in Chesapeake. She was passionate about serving God through mission trips. She traveled to Mexico, Nepal, Vietnam, and made 17 trips to Romania teaching women’s conferences, doing door to door evangelism, and working on construction projects. Darlene was also a Red Cross Relief Volunteer, and a swimming and lifeguard instructor at the YMCA in Portsmouth. She loved God, her family, fishing, gardening, quilting, and bird watching (especially bluebirds and hummingbirds). She also enjoyed reading and, since being diagnosed with ALS, enjoyed watching murder mysteries – especially LT. Joe Kenda, Homicide Hunter.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jim, children, Christine Lott, Fort Mill, SC, Andy (Julie) Lott, Bartlett, TN, and Rebecca Lott, London, England; seven beloved grandchildren, Carrie, Anna Grace, Gui Gui, Ben, Liu Wei, Sophia, and Guang, sisters, Beverly (Bill) Webb, New York Mills, NY and Althea Jo (Tom) Nelson, Liberty, MO, brother, Jim (Lee Ann) Myers, Kearney, MO, niece, Sarah Nelson and nephews, Mark (Christy) Webb, Michael (Rebecca) Webb, Matt (Yvonne) Myers and Tom (Emily) Myers.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Smith, and Gerald Kroll, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
