Born on September 6, 1934 in Bristol, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Joseph Campbell and the late Ora Smith Campbell.

He was raised in Bristol, Tennessee and began work as a bicycle delivery boy for Monte Vista Groceries at the age of thirteen.  As an adult, he worked in the men’s clothing industry.  He opened the Glen Moore Clothing Store in downtown Lynchburg in 1960.  He was a traveling sales representative from 1969 until his retirement from the VF Corporation in 1996.

He was a long-time member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of various committees.  One of his great pleasures was the strong and lasting Christian relationships he developed through the years with his church family.

Other interests included music, working in the yard, gardening, golf, and travel.  He was a member of the Brookville Ruritan Club and driver for Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by daughter, Debbi Campbell Bowen, and husband Leonard of South Boston, Virginia; his son, John Wade Campbell and wife Barbara of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his four granddaughters, Anna Bowen and husband Gregory Ullom, Emily Bowen and fiancé Keven Peach, Kelsey Osborne and husband Andrew, Madelynn Rollins and husband Chris; brother, Douglas S. Campbell; and sister, Phyllis Hughes.

A celebration of life for Dallas will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Hollandsworth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 528 Leesville Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502 or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1388, Lynchburg, VA 24505.
