Buford was a kind, good-hearted, Christian man. He was so good to my parents, and Buford showed me what it is like to have a great neighbor whom you could count on, rain or shine. I got to visit and see Buford on Halloween evening; we talked about Joyce, Lisha, and Bob, whom he loved dearly. He smiled and laughed about the Halloween treats, and we talked about how I still had the snowmen he had made out of wood and given me as Christmas gifts years ago. I have always treasured those gifts the most of all, and now, they are even sweeter, more dear to me. I am so glad I got to see his warm smile during our last visit! Buford was surely a fine example of a Godly man and a faithful husband and father. I'll miss those WV magazines he would share with us, and I'll miss seeing our dear friend.

I'm going to miss, Buford. He has been my friend for 20 years or so. Buford would help me out. He would walk the paper my way cold ,rain or snow. And his West Virginia umbrella, I mean BIG, yellow opps Gold and Blue. He loved the University of WV. Especially football. Then there is his RED truck. Looks new and I think 20years old. Still would throw a bag of my trash on back to carry to the dump. Buford THANKS for being my neighbor.

I can't help but agree, the world is a better place with Bute in it! The last time I saw Uncle Bute, four of us drove Sprink Creek road from Renick, through Spring Creek and back to Maxwelton (WV). I'm so glad we did that. Remembering stories that had been told over the years from when he grew up there. This weekend has been full of stories from Cranberry, golfing, family gatherings. Those gatherings will not be the same and it was rare to see dad without Bute nearby. They were two peas in a pod, you would have thought they were brothers by blood not marriage. The great memories will always be there, his influence on the world will continue. Much love to you all.

I met Bute when I was dating my husband. He was kind, friendly and wanted to know when Pete was going to marry me. Ha! He was a wonderful man, loving to all his family, caring, gently, and we so enjoyed visiting with him and Aunt Joyce on visits to their town. The world will miss him and prayers go out to his wonderful family. The world is a better place for having Bute in it!
