Betty W. Gifford, 80, of Lynchburg went to be with her lord and savior on Sunday, September 8, 2019 with her family at her bedside, following a brief illness.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Allen Gifford; brothers, Ed Woodard, Woody Woodard, Lee Woodard and sisters, Kittie Walker and Sherry Woodard.
She was born on December 10, 1938 to the late H.P. and Eunia Woodard in Lee Co., Va.
She was employed by Business Opportunities for The Blind for 39 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Crider and husband, Virgil of Lynchburg; grandson, Jonathan Crider, of Lynchburg; brother, Pete Woodard and wife, Jackie of Jonesville, Va.; sister, Lorraine Leer of Port Orchard, Wash.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Woodard of Sparrow Point, Md. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a sincere appreciation to the Centra Home Health Team, medical staff in the Neuro Intensive Care at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and the Hospice Unit at Guggenheimer Nursing Home for the kind, compassionate and excellent care provided too Betty during her illness. The family is very appreciative of all the prayers, love and support received during her illness, from family, close friends and church family.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on December 10, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
At Gospel Light Baptist Church in Evington, Va. with the Pastor Brian Warren officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Gospel Light Baptist Church building fund.
Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory of Lynchburg is assisting the family.
